Research overview
Healthcare robotics represents one of the most socially important applications of robotics. Dr. Hussain's objective has been to develop intelligent robotic systems that improve quality of life, support rehabilitation, and assist healthcare professionals.
His group has developed lower-limb exoskeletons, intelligent rehabilitation systems, sensorimotor interfaces, human intent detection methods, multimodal feedback platforms, wearable assistive devices, and AI-enabled healthcare technologies.
These systems integrate compliant actuation, sensing, control, and user-centered design. Collaborations with Mubadala, ARIC, STRATA, and Amana Healthcare have enabled progression from laboratory prototypes to clinically relevant and industry-informed systems.
Research focus
The experiments shown cover knee exoskeletons, gait evaluation, wearable sensory feedback, assisted grasping, and object handling.
